What's Down There?

It is Maine's deepest lake. It is a favorite destination of both summer vacationers and winter sportsmen. It supplies all of Portland's water. It is the final resting place of two British fighter pilots. It is over three hundred feet deep in spots. It is the source of a dispute involving Maine property owners, a South African company, and the federal government. It is a dangerous body of water in which a rescue party once had to be rescued during a rescue attempt. And did we mention that it's deep?
