Calming The Motion Of The Ocean
Is your fear of seasickness keeping you from setting sail this summer? Our own Joshua F. Moore ? a schooner captain himself ? explains how easy it is to beat this maritime malady.
She has the looks that could melt the heart of even the most sun-hardened mariner - shoulder-length auburn hair, a smooth face with freckles seemingly dabbed on by an artist's brush, brown eyes shaped like ripe almonds - and my heart skips a beat as she approaches me at the helm of my passenger schooner one breezy summer day on Penobscot Bay, staring intently into my eyes and uttering the five words that are guaranteed to stop every skipper in his tracks:"I need to throw up."
Instantly I hand the wheel to my first mate and escort this already ashen-faced traveler to a spot that her fellow passengers have cleared for her at the leeward rail.
