Idon't know what I expected. I knew that Roxanne Quimby had built lip-balm giant Burt's Bees from a kitchen-table, back-of-the-pickup business into a national company with several hundred employees. I knew she'd sold a chunk of the operation for $180 million. I knew she'd just flown up from Palm Beach to her summer home in Winter Harbor, and we were supposed to meet in the café across from the town's five-and-dime.
So I was a few minutes early, chatting with the five-and-dime owner, Peter Drinkwater.
