What a Ride!
For thousands of cyclists and volunteers, the annual Trek Across Maine is more than just a worthy fundraiser -- it's a three-day traveling party.

At 7 a.m., in a steady drizzle, they stand poised in their improbable gear: shower caps, padded-buttock shorts, plastic bags wrapped hopefully around their Velcroed feet. The teams are the Mighty Lemmings, Wheezers and Geezers, and Trekkers Without Training -- who look like they suddenly wish they had some.
They are just a few of the intrepid, two-wheeled teams who have joined almost 1,500 riders outside Sunday River's South Ridge Lodge for the start of the Trek Across Maine, a three-day, 180-mile bicycling adventure held each June to raise funds for the American Lung Association of Maine.
