Living on the Edge
Will a liquefied natural gas terminal bring prosperity to Pleasant Point and Perry?

For most of its history, Perry hasn't called much attention to itself. A rural community perched on the ragged eastern fringe of the nation, Perry's 810 inhabitants are scattered across a gently undulating landscape of woods and fields that falls steeply into the cold waters of Passamaquoddy Bay. When the fog lifts, many of them can see Canada, a quarter-mile across the bay, which, from here, looks like much of the same: rocky shores and evergreen forests fronting a cold, arrestingly beautiful sea.
