Soothin' the Beast Within

The other day at my Weight Watcher meeting something Sadie Dupris says catches my attention. Sadie’s town librarian here in Mahoosuc Mills, but mostly they keep her on ‘cause she’s a ringer for the town bowling team. Thanks to Sadie’s prowess, we’ve had one of the top three teams in the Franklin County Employees Bowling League for a couple of decades now. (Poor gal doesn’t know her Dewey from her decimal, but darn, she’s one heck of a bowler!)

Mission Impossible

Saturday was my birthday. I had a ten dollars off coupon from Victorian’s Secret, so that’s where I went to buy a new bra.

They say you should get measured for a bra every year, especially if your weight has changed. I’ve been on the WW since January, and have pretty much hit my goal, so I was due.

Chuck it in the Bucket

Since cleaning out my closet last week, I’m a de-clutterin’ fool! It just feels so good to get rid of stuff I don’t really use and pass it on to folks who could.

Spring Cleaning

idagardening2.jpg

Well, finally! We got some April showers last week. Even though our May flowers been up two or three weeks now, it was a good thing. The ground needed a soakin. Plus, the rain forced me to stay inside and tend to some long overdue spring cleaning.

I don’t know about you, but the hardest thing I find about spring cleaning is that it’s spring. The sun’s shining, daffodils and tulips are up, birds are singing. I want to be out doors, puttering around in the yard.

Works Like a Charm!

Now, the last time I addressed this subject was my blog back in November 2010. (I know, ‘cause I checked.) But some things never change, and my husband’s one of ‘em.

Livin' The Dream

Last week, I’m drivin’ back from Bangor, where I’d spent a lovely afternoon getting a root canal. I know! Just the thought of it sends chills down your spine. But, it really wasn’t all that bad. I went to a place where all they do is root canals. I mean, they crank ‘em out, ‘bout a gazillion a day. They got it down.

Jelly Beans, Easter Bonnets and Givin’ it up for Lent

Did you give up something for Lent? That used to be a big deal, didn’t it? I don’t think people do it so much, now. Oh, I’d like to say I gave up candy, ice cream, bacon and booze for Lent, but I give those up for Weight Watchers, so it’d be cheating.

Style Tips for Spring

The temperature may have cooled off last week, but boy, the crocuses, daffodils and forsythia sure are keeping the faith, aren’t they? Those flashes of purple and yellow make me happy, no end. Spring is here, and the magazines are letting us in on all the hottest fashion trends. As usual, some are confusing, some are just plain foolish, and some, I’m happy to report, us regular folk can actually wear!

So Dog Gone Good

Took Scamp to a new groomer last week. The gal I’ve been using went on maternity leave, and her assistant just wasn’t sticking with the program. Last time, holy cow, he come home with his worst cut yet. Why I was almost embarrassed to be seen with him. In fact, it was so bad even my husband Charlie noticed. I could tell Scamp was kind of weirded out by it, too. Though Charlie says it’s ‘cause every time I saw Scamp I’d say something like, “Oh my, God! You don’t even look like my little Scamp anymore! No, you don’t!

Feelin' Frisky

Geez Louise, the weather has been amazing up here in Mahoosuc Mills! Sure, we had that snowstorm, what, a couple of weeks back. Snowed just enough to remind us what season this really is. Then, poof! It all melted away, just like that! Can’t ever remember having a winter like this. And after last year, with all them blizzards and power outages, it’s some relief, let me tell you!
