Georgetown Working League Fair

The Georgetown Working League is holding their 100th annual fair in 2013. Quilt raffle, handmade items,collectibles, homemade baked goods, art, crafts, books, jewelry, white elephants, childrens activities, lunch. All proceeds benefit the town.
Jamie Wyeth, Rockwell Kent, and Monhegan

Jamie Wyeth’s connection to Monhegan dates to the late 1950s, when he first went there with his father, and he has continued to paint there ever since. His connection to fellow artist Rockwell Kent goes back nearly as far. Early in his career Wyeth bought several pen and ink drawings by Kent used as the sources for his illustrations to Moby Dick, one of Kent’s most renowned book illustration projects. Subsequently, Wyeth bought several of Kent’s paintings from his first period on the island around 1907.

Red Cloak Haunted History Tours
An evening lantern lit tour will explore Damariscotta, Wiscasset, Boothbay Harbor, Camden or Bath, discovering ghosts and history, spirits and mystery. Buildings that once seemed ordinary will take on eerie new dimensions as The Lady in the Red Cloak relives their history and that of the ghostly entities that are said to still reside there. Portland’s State Theatre proudly hosts the world premiere of five short Maine-‐made films as part of an annual showcase of titled Damnationland: The Way Life Should Bleed. The program—in its third year—presents genre-‐defying original works from Maine filmmakers that redefine the classic thriller and horror categories, leaning toward visions that are surreal, comedic, and artful, while still providing scares, shocks, and surprises. This event is the first of many screenings, and the program will travel to other theaters in Maine, Ohio, New York City, and Los Angeles.

Sixth Annual Bangor Book Festival

Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, short story writer, screenwriter and teacher Richard Russo will be the keynote speaker for the Sixth Annual Bangor Book Festival, October 19-20, 2012, in downtown Bangor. Russo will be joined by his daughter, the artist Kate Russo, and more than 30 Maine-based and Maine-connected, writers, essayists and illustrators who will participate in panels, readings and signings at the Bangor Public Library and other downtown Bangor venues.
The 2012 Festival will also include the world-premiere of a new musical work by composer Don Stratton.
