Angela Dufresne’s paintings articulate the space between the cinematic/filmic experience and the day to day personal experience. The works expose the theater of reality and the reality of fiction in a constant state of cause and effect, impacting the actual identities and fictional characters alike. By combining painting sources from life, i.e. friends, self portraiture, and imagined personas, with cinematic frames in abrupt yet fluid, painterly moves, the works depict the process of life mimicking media and media mimicking life in a constant, yet unverifiable, dialog.
