This new exhibit focuses on York’s continued history as a working waterfront community. Researched through interviews with fishermen and family members, the exhibit examines the fishing and lobstering industry in York today and back through the 20th century. Free. The ARTworks benefit exhibition features small works from a diversity of local, regional and national artists all for sale for $100 or less. Opening Reception September 6th, 5 to 8 pm.

The Laudholm Nature Crafts Festival hosts 100 of New England's finest artisans and craftspeople in a spectacular seaside setting. Exhibitors are selected by jury for this prestigious event, now in its 26th year, which features jewelry, pottery, apparel, prints, sculpture, photography, and more. Food, music, and trail walks round out the indoor/outdoor festival. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit Laudholm Trust, which provides vital support to the Wells Reserve at Laudholm. 10am to 4pm each day.

Cecilia Chamber Choir will hold auditions for all voice parts beginning Sept. 6 and continuing through the third week of September. The Choir sings a variety of challenging repertoire from the medieval period to new compositions. Rehearsals are in Newcastle on Wednesday nights, with periodic performances in Newcastle and Brunswick, and occasionally other Maine locations. The Choir is directed by Linda Blanchard and accompanied by Sean Fleming, both of Damariscotta.

Strut Your Mutt - September 8 (Sun) - Strut Your Mutt Walk at Mother's Beach, Kennebunk. Walkers Wanted! This scenic walk on the three Kennebunk Beaches raises money for the AWS Sadie Fund, a medical fund for animals in need. Registration begins at 10:00am and the walk starts at 11:00am. Maine Wienerfest celebrates its 10th year and all things Dachshund in Belfast on Sunday, September 8th in Steamboat Landing Park (at Front Street and Commercial Streets). Belfast’s quirkiest event of the year opens its gates at 11am, and will charge $2 per person, a fundraiser for repair and maintenance at The Belfast Dog Park. Children under 10 years old and dogs are free!
