Flights of Fancy at Maine Potters Market

Beginning June 1, Maine Potters Market displays a new collection of pots by Nancy Button. These pots reflect the joy of flight and the excitement of playing with the textures of the natural world.
Working with her favorite oak tree outside the studio, Nancy slaps a cut slab of clay against the tree, brings the impressed clay back inside, and shapes it into a vessel.
“Perpetual Journey: Recent and Retro Work by Georganne Bernard”
Opening reception, meet and greet the artist on Friday, June 7, from 5-8pm. Live music by the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School String Ensemble. Free, light refreshments. Exhibit and sale continues through June 29 in the historic cape, 272 Pikes Hill, Norway.
Bar Harbor First Fridays Art Walk

A free self-guided tour of local art galleries, art studios, museums, and alternative art venues is all part of Bar Harbor's First Friday Art Walks beginning on Friday, June 7th 6 - 9p.m. The festive evening includes galleries that will host special events showcasing artists, demonstrations, exhibits and receptions for local, Maine and National artists and craftspeople along with special theatre, musical and art events throughout the downtown. Historic New England hosts the fourth annual Art at Marrett with the Saco River Art League. Children can create their own art at the "Create Your Own Masterpiece" table. Refreshments are for sale by the Standish Historical Society. A silent auction benefits Historic New England.

An Evening of Art auction to benefit the old Orr's Island Schoolhouse, a historic building on Route 24 in the heart of Orr's Island in Harpswell. Dozens of pieces of art in a variety of mediums will be up for bid in this fund-raising auction. Preview begins at 6 p.m., with live auction from 7 to 9 p.m. Light hors d'oeuvres, desserts, soda and wine will be served. BARBARA ERNST PREY: EAST MEETS WEST

This exhibit showcases the virtuosic hand of internationally acclaimed artist Barbara Ernst Prey, recently featured on the CBS Evening News. On exhibit are 40 never before seen watercolors, dry-brush and oil paintings in which Prey continues her exploration of the Eastern and Western landscape and our complex relationship with the environment. The New York Times writes “Prey is going where icons like Rauschenberg and Warhol have gone before”.
