Imagine There's No Clutter
Can a chirpy song about compulsive consumption compete with, say, Imagine? Nobody told (us) there'd be days like these, yet a University of Maine graduate student's spirited take on materialism is making inroads in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition. Daniel Flannery is a finalist in the children's songwriting category thanks to One Just Wasn't Enough. Its refrain — "I've got a collection of all the neatest stuff, one just wasn't enough" — is catchy and likely suggests to young ears maybe, just maybe, one can be enough. Flannery could be at the start of a revolution.
