Vote for the Mentos Men
It was hard to miss the Mentos and Diet Coke video that made the rounds on the internet in 2007. The video was a viral marketing sensation made by Buckfield residents Stephen Voltz and Fritz Grobe, who placed Mentos into bottles of Diet Coke and sat back to watch the show. The resulting checmical reaction produced fierce fountains of soda and for their experiment, the fizz-happy duo won a Webby Award for Viral Video. They’re back before the Webby judges this year and in the running for an award for waterfalls — sticky note waterfalls, to be precise. The video, which falls under the Branded Content category of the Webby awards, was created as advertising for Office Max. Webby Awards are determined by web users. In public online voting the duo is narrowly holding the lead. View the video here.
