Opening Vinalhaven's Cold Case
It's been thirty-seven years since a woman's body was found on a beach on Vinalhaven. Thirty-seven years of questions, rumors, and assumptions about how nineteen-year-old Bella Baldwin met her violent end. The official police ruling was that Baldwin died by drowning, but conflicting stories and evidence has long caused investigators to wonder if something else really happened on Lane's Island back in September 1972. Now Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison is reopening the case and asking an investigator to check into some of the unanswered questions. Dennison says she expects her investigation into Baldwin's death will be concluded soon, but is so far saying nothing about what that investigation has turned up.
