Turbulence for Bangor Travelers

People trying to get to and from northern Maine got a doubleshot of bad news this week, as both Continental and Delta announced that they are cutting back on air service to Bangor International Airport. Continental had announced earlier this year that it was closing down the route between BIA and Newark, N.J., and last week they carried through on that plan. This week, Delta Airlines informed the airport that it would stop its Boston-Bangor flights, which had been operating twice a day, as of December 1. The two departures leaves the northern Maine airport with just Delta (which is continuing its Bangor-Detroit and Bangor-New York service), US Airways, and Allegiant Air. It also means that Bangor travelers no longer have the option of flying to Boston, a major hub and destination for Maine travelers.
