Bicyclists Rate Maine Among the Best
Three feet was just enough wiggle room to notch Maine three gears higher on the the League of American Bicyclists annual tally of bike-friendly states. Maine became number three in the nationwide poll, thanks in part to a move to encourage motorists to allow three feet clearance when passing bicyclists. The annual Bicycle Friendly States poll weighs legislation, education, infrastructure and efforts to encourage bicycle use when determining rank. Washington and Wisconsin retained first- and second-place ratings.
