Free to Good Home: Grizzly Bear
The Smithsonian Intitute donated two dozen or so animal mounts to Nokomis Regional High School science teacher Howard Whitten for educational purposes in 2004. Since then they’ve been moved from location to location, including Nokomis’ upstairs boys bathroom. Whitten is looking for businesses, public institutions and others who will volunteer to display specimens, which include a Russian grizzly bear, and African lions, duikers and kudus.
Read more and watch a video of Nokomis taxidermy students loading the mounts, some valued as high as $40,000, into a trailer for storage at Bangor Daily News.
