Maine: The Eighth Healthiest State
The overall health of the nation declined over the past year according to America's Health Rankings, but Maine has managed to stay ahead of the field. Maine ranked third in the category of 'Diet, Fruits & Vegetables' and significantly decreased its smoking population. However, the state ranked 36th in both high cholesterol and immunization coverage and the percent of the population that's obese increased by five points.
