Bill Would Ease Snow Dumping Regs

A bill backed by the Maine Municipal Association would let cities and towns dump their snow wherever they want -- including into lakes, rivers and coastal bays -- without permission from the Department of Environmental Protection. Municipalities that support the measure say existing state regulation aimed at protecting water quality create their own environmental problems.
