Senate Passes Bill to Ease Seatbelt Law

The Maine Senate has voted 18-17 in support of a bill to change the failure to wear a seatbelt from a primary to a secondary offense.

The bill faces another Senate vote before it goes on to the house. Should it pass, police will no longer have the power to pull over drivers for failing to be belted.
