Popular Castine Restaurant to Reopen
A local chef is reopening the popular Castine Variety, which has been closed for more than a year. The restaurant is known for its lobster roll, which was declared the Best Lobster Roll by Coastal Living magazine in 2010.
Snow Logan, the chef at The Breeze, tells The Castine Patriot that customers had been urging her to take over the restaurant on the corner of Main and Water Streets, so she complied. She is installing a new kitchen and making room for six tables plus the counter and plans to open on Mother's Day.
The menu will offer the “international” dishes she is known for: Vietnamese spring rolls, Thai green curry shrimp kebab, and Hawaiian pork chops, along with the traditional burgers, dogs and fries, seafood rolls and platters, and pizza. She also will expand the breakfast menu.
Logan trained as a chef at the University of Hawaii. She came to Castine over seven years ago to work at Maine Maritime Academy.
