Tidal Power Project Dedicated
The official dedication of the Ocean Renewable Power Company TidGen Cobscook Bay tidal energy project in Easport, Maine helped launch the nation's first underwater tidal turbine. The turbine hopes to harness the power of massive tidal shifts in Cobscook Bay to generate clean energy. The 98-foot turbine will be submerged in August at a depth of 82 feet and will stay there for a year of testing. This project has been eight years in the making, and should the year-long test be successful, it could lead the way towards a greater embrace of tidal power.
