King Seeks to Discourage Super-PACs

Former governor and current independent candidate for senate Angus King announced he would discourage spending by Super-PACs and other outside groups in the upcoming election if his opponents agree to do the same. King says the wave of anonymous campaign expenditures entering politics as a result of the controversial Citizens United case distorts the campaign process.

The other candidates have not committed, and King would not say for sure he will follow through, should his opponents not agree.  Republican nominee and current Maine Secretary of State Charles Summers said his concern is focused on the economy right now while Democrat Cynthia Dill agreed it's an important issue but felt King's proposal lacked any details or substance.
