Beauty in Nature Close at Hand

byamaineriver

Thomas Mark Szelog spent a year photographing nature and wildlife on his forested 70-acre property. Selecting an image or two from each week of the year, Tom and his wife, Lee Ann Szelog, created the book, By a Maine River: A Year of Looking Closely. As Tom writes in his introduction:

We grow accustomed to our environment and don’t see the marvels that surround us each day. There is a complex, mysterious, and stirring world waiting to be visited without having to travel beyond our backyards. By a Maine River displays images of the treasures I found by simply venturing into my own backyard — the forest — during a year-long exploration of the seventy acres surrounding Bear Brook Cabin, my log home, in Whitefield, Maine.
