Irregular Syntax

From the August 8 issue of the Original Irregular, a weekly newspaper in Kingfield:
"Serving as the town's Emergency Management Director and Fire Chief, Scott Dyer explained at a recent selectmen's meeting that they are required to be prepared to respond to emergencies of any kind. Domestic incidents, such as flu outbreaks or a hurricane, might require temporary shelters or evacuation route planning."
(Nothing worse than a domestic hurricane.)
"In all cases the news is out that the current towns within MSAD #58 will see a slight reduction in school cost. But, of substantial interest, unlike the previous thoughts of adding towns like Rangeley and Jay into the mix to help smaller towns with school costs, the state through EPS formula funding and new consolidation calculations is showing decreased costs for Rangeley and Jay in the mix and increased costs for the other towns."
(That EPS formula is a domestic hurricane in the making.)
"If you've never been to a school board meeting, this Thursday you may hear some historic sentences like motions to write a Notice of Intent to consolidate with MSAD #9 and possibly Carrabassett Valley and Coplin."
(This, too, could be a historic sentence.)
