According to Jeff Inglis of the Phoenix, Rep. Hinck's bill to create a shield law for Maine journalists was deemed an "emergency" by legislative leadership at its meeting on Oct. 25, thereby allowing the measure to be considered by the full Legislature during the 2008 session.
