Munjoy's Back!

Cushing no longer among the missing:
Pseudonymous blogger and media critic T. Cushing Munjoy has returned to action after a month-long absence due to medical problems. On March 2, Munjoy posted a short critique of Maine Sunday Telegram editor Jeannine Guttman's "tone-deaf, self-destructive and embarrassing" column on her paper's decision not to run a New York Times story on alleged improprieties by Republican presidential candidate John McCain. You can check his latest work out at www.pressingtheherald.blogspot.com. In an e-mail, Munjoy wrote that he'd endured " a sobering 30 days," but promised "a bit less ad hominem and more block and tackle journalism critique … but no less outrage."

The price is cheap:
According to the Web site Northeast Radio Watch (www.fybush.com/nerw.html#me), EMF Broadcasting paid Citadel Broadcasting just $1 million for WCYI-FM (93.9). The station, licensed to Lewiston, but based in Portland, has been offering a commercial-free format of blues tunes for several months, while awaiting a buyer. On completion of the sale, it will switch to contemporary Christian music. And advertising.

Astonishing change:
From the Lewiston Sun Journal's front page, March 3, 2008:
"FARMINGTON - Two days after a warrant was issued for his arrest, a bank-robbery suspect surrendered to authorities Sunday.
"Kevin E. Lunn, 38, turned himself into Sagadahoc County officials Sunday, Farmington police Chief Richard Canton III said."
(I wonder if he'll be asked to audition for "Transformers 2"?)
