Who was John Martin “Jack” Feeney?
The son of Irish immigrants is better known as film director John Ford (1894-1973). Working with such stars as Henry Fonda and John Wayne, he directed 145 films, including such classics as Stagecoach (1939), Young Mr. Lincoln (1939), The Grapes of Wrath (1940), and The Searchers (1956). A statue honoring him stands at Gorham Corner in downtown Portland.
