The Whaleback Shell Midden was more than 30 feet high, 1,650 feet long, and 1,320 to 1,650 feet wide and represented the remains thousands of years of Indian oyster feasts. A small portion survives, as much of it was processed into chicken feed between 1886 and 1891.
