Small Town, Great Food
You don't expect to find culinary adventure in a small Maine town, but every now and then you encounter the marvel of a fine meal at an unassuming dining establishment. as John Golden did just that when he stumbled into Vittles in Pittsfield. The menu went well beyond the standard luncheonette fare: portobello mushroom cap stuffed with crabmeat, tortillas filled with house-made chili and shredded cheddar, a BLT with blue cheese, thick slices of country bacon, and red tomatoes, not to mention an extraordinary blueberry pie.
