The publishers of Down East: The Magazine of Maine announce the grand opening of the Down East Marketplace at the Portland International Jetport on Wednesday, April 18 at 9:00 a.m. Founded in 1954, Down East has become synonymous with the state itself, offering the best in lifestyle, destination, story-telling, humor, food, and more through magazines, books, the Web, social media, apps, video, and now retail.

The 1,700-square-foot Marketplace, located in the Jetport’s newly expanded terminal, expands the Down East brand and offers customers new ways to access the information they have come to rely on. The two million visitors who pass through the Jetport each year can shop for a wide array of top-quality Maine-made, products including food, clothing, travel accessories, gifts, books, magazines, and more from the state's most respected companies, including Sea Bags, Stonewall Kitchen, and Cool As A Moose, as well as Down East.

In addition, the Experience Maine App and Down East Channel provide the most recent information on beaches, dining, lobster, Acadia National Park, Maine lakes and lighthouses, as well as Down East Magazine articles and events across the state. Shoppers will be able to access videos, podcasts, interviews, slide shows, and audio clips at the touch of a screen.

To create the Marketplace, Down East partnered with The Paradies Shops, the recognized leader in airport retail. Their work with clients such as the New York Times, Brooks Brothers, CNBC, Harley-Davidson, and others has won them top honors in the industry. According to Paradies' Gregg Fluckiger, no brand better exemplifies the state of Maine than Down East. “It’s been a privilege to work with Down East to bring such a strong Maine theme to the Portland Jetport and all the passengers who travel through.”
