Ready to pound the pavement this Halloween decked out in the latest Batman costume? Whatever your mask needs, there is one place to go: Drapeau’s Costumes of Maine (20 Main St., 207-353-2216, www.costumesofmaine.com) in Lisbon Falls. Drapeau’s has been a Maine institution since 1956 when the original Mrs. Drapeau bought a couple of hundred costumes and began to sell them out of her home in Lewiston. Over fifty years (and a few owners later), Drapeau’s now offers more than 3,500 costumes, whether you want to be a medieval princess, a clown, a pirate, or anything else you can imagine. Plus you’ll find wigs, hats, and jewelry. All of this will run you anywhere from thirty-six to seventy-six dollars, depending on the elaborateness of your disguise. The shop begins taking reservations for Halloween costumes in September and usually has five hundred to seven hundred reserved by mid-October. So call early.
