Quick and easy homemade pizza.
It’s 4 o’clock. You have no idea what to make for dinner and the idea of a long night cooking sounds like ‘no fun’. We have all been stuck in this rut so, we have figured out a great meal that is so delicious and super fast… homemade pizza. The secret to this great meal that makes it quick to prep (and sooooo good) is to pick up fresh pizza dough and pizza sauce at your local pizza shop. Local pizza shops are everywhere- in my tiny town there are three.
I call up the pizza shop, ask for enough pizza dough to make 2 large pizzas. I also ask for 2 pints of fresh pizza sauce (so much better than canned). On my way home I stop at the pizza shop, pick up the goods and the hardest part of homemade pizza is done!
I hope everyone enjoys this little secret to the best "homemade" pizza. The toppings we chose are just some of the combinations that you can create. Just go wild and have a Happy Pizza Night!
What you'll need:
2 large fresh pizza doughs
2 pints pizza sauce
1-pound bacon- cooked
3-4 sausages- cooked
2 medium sized onions- cut in ½ thinly sliced and caramelized
3 tomatoes- sliced
Fresh mozzarella- slices
One small package of fresh arugula
Fresh basil
Cheddar cheese – 2 cups shredded
Mozzarella cheese- 2 cups shredded
Medium ground corn meal
Olive oil
Salt and pepper
What To Do:
Preheat the oven to 350°. Grab three medium sized sauté pans and cook the bacon, sausage, and caramelize the onions. When these items are cooking, grab three cookie sheets and gently sprinkle with corn meal (about 2 tablespoon).
Spread and stretch the pizza dough. You can roll it with a rolling pin, but we found the best way was to stretch with our hands, by holding one edge, and working the circumstance of the dough.

Once you feel like the dough is the correct size to fit the cookie sheet. Gently lay the dough on the corn meal covered cookie sheet. Sprinkle the top of the dough with olive oil, and spread to cover the dough.

Place the dough in the oven and cook for 10- 12 minutes, watching them closely. You will know when they are ready to be pulled out when you can pick up the edge of the dough and it is slightly ridged. Pull the dough out of the oven and now it time to make the pizzas!
Spread about ½ cup – ¾ cup (depending on how much sauce you like on your pizza) of the pizza sauce on the dough. Lightly sprinkle some cheese over the sauce. Arrange the toppings as you like your pizza- be creative!

Bake the pizza for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let the pizza rest for 3 minutes or so. Cut the pizza into small squares, or any shape that you want. Enjoy!
