The massive stimulus plan, known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, recently approved by Congress includes a $750 million National Park Service plan. Acadia is slated to receive a little more than eight million of the funds. The money will primarily be used to fund two major projects: improvements at the Schoodic Educational and Research Center and completion of road and parking lot maintenance in federal parklands on Mount Desert Island. A handful of other repairs and improvements will also be made with the funds.
