Bar Harbor’s Art Deco piece de le resistance, the Criterion Theater and Arts Center, is set to entertain to inspire a new generation following the restoration of its historic marquee. The Cottage Street attraction joins a growing list of Maine theaters that have found the good graces of new owners intent on preserving unique architectural detail. The Strand Theater in Rockland and the Colonial in Belfast are two of our favorites, and the hanging balcony of the Criterion has been awe-inspiring bit of craftsmanship since 1932. Long may it endure!
