Bates College will bestow an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree to Geena Davis, Thelma of the 1991 tragedy and feminist flick Thelma and Louise. Sure, Thelma left a sedate marriage and gained insight during the 48-hour plot line, but Louise’s (Sarandon's) sardonic wit and one liners carried the movie, at least from our point of view. With lines such as “You've always been crazy, this is just the first chance you've had to express yourself, “ and “You get what you settle for,” we think Sarandon should be in the running for an honorary something or other. Perhaps an honorary Doctor of Sociology?
