OK. So bad news about the obesity, but another study gives us something to celebrate: we’re smart! According to rankings released by Martek Biosciences, a brain research and product company based in Maryland, in conjunction with Dr. Michael Roizen, Maine came in ninth in the nation in terms of being “good to our brains.” The study measured diet, physical health, mental health, and social well-being. Some of Maine’s high points? Eating fish (we came in first); game playing (of the bridge, bingo, scrabble variety); and reading for personal interest. All of the New England states, except Rhode Island, made the top ten.
