We’re getting bigger, and not in a good way. Trust for America’s Health, a non-profit, found that 24.7 percent of Mainers are overweight. That’s 1 percent more than last year. The study also found that 28.2 percent of Mainers ages ten to seventeen are overweight. While thirty-four states have higher adult obesity rates and thirty-eight higher child obesity rates, Maine is still the “fattest” state in New England. Mississippi, where 44 percent of children are overweight, takes the cake for the nation.
