It doesn't have to be the depths of winter for Maine to experience a Nor'Easter. With 30 mile-per-hour northeasterly winds pummeling the coastline, combined with the highest tides of the month, the National Weather Service predicts minor flooding and coastal erosion in Maine. The rainfall has also prompted the Department of Marine Resources to close all Maine clam flats for fear runoff has contaminated flats. The state will test flats later in the week and reassess closures.
