Down East ran a story by Edgar Allen Beem in our most recent issue about the uncertain future of Post Offices [1] around the state. Thirty-four are up for closure as part of an effort nationwide to cut the USPS budget by $200 million. As of today the number is down to thirty as the federal agency has agreed to take the offices at Matinicus, Stone Ham, West Forks, and Topsfield off the list according to an article in the Bangor Daily News [2].
