Maine's new ferry, named the Capt. E. Frank Thompson after a longtime skipper who died in 2003, will serve the Rockland to Vinalhaven route and is being christened at the Rockland Ferry Terminal on Friday. The vessel cost $10.3 million and will be able to transport up to 250 passengers and 22 vehicles. It replaces the 1968 ship, Governor Curtis. The family of Capt. Thompson will be in attendance at the event.
