In 2009, voters rejected upholding the law that granted same-sex couples the right to wed by a 6 percent margin. After collecting over 105,000 signatures, EqualityMaine is giving voters another chance to voice their opinion in November of 2012. According to the group, polls indicate the voting will be different this time around. EqualityMaine says that 54 percent of Mainers now support gay marriage. The signatures still need to be certified, and then put to an up or down vote in the legislature.
