Maine's 60,000 acres of blueberry fields are expected to produce close to 95 million pounds of the crop this year, besting the average from the past decade by around ten million. Meanwhile, last years prices of 91 cents per pound for the harvest were up nearly 60 cents from 2009. The price isn't expected to be quite as high in 2012, but it will remain strong because of droughts in the Midwest limiting the numbers of other cultivated berries.
