Although the process was surrounded by much controversy [1], Charlie Webster, the chairman of the GOP in Maine, announced Mitt Romney as the winner of the state's caucuses back in February with the largest share of the popular vote. At the state Republican Convention over the weekend, however, Ron Paul, the congressman from Texas, came away with 21 of Maine's 24 delegates to bring with him to the national convention in Tampa, Fla. Supporters reportedly took control of the two-day convention to deliver the victory to Republican presidential nominee. The results are essentially meaningless, however, as Romney has the victory in hand with 850 delegates compared with Paul's 90.
