Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in the place to be Saturday, April 18, when this garden lovers’ haven will celebrate publication of the new book, The Inspired Garden , by Judy Paolini, with photographs by Nance Trueworthy. The new book reveals the inventive and visually exciting gardens that result when artists design their own outdoor spaces.
To mark the new book’s publication, from 1 to 3 p.m., Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens will host several artist-gardeners talking about their work as seen in The Inspired Garden . The speakers will include James Aponovich and Beth Johansson Aponovich, Harry White, and Lee Gauthier. Following the talks, a reception and book signing will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Admission to these events is free and open to the public.
From Wednesday, April 1, through Saturday, May 30, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens will also be exhibiting sculpture, photographs, paintings and other works of art that are featured in the book. Access to the exhibit is included in admission to the gardens. Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is located on Barters Island Road in Boothbay, Maine. Judy Paolini is a principal partner at Thibault Paolini Design Associates, an integrated product development, graphic design, and branding firm that specializes in consumer products. She lives on Long Island in Casco Bay, on the outskirts of Portland, Maine. Nance Trueworthy’s photographs grace four Down East books: Maine’s Casco Bay Islands: A Guide; A Seat on the Shore: Quietly Admiring the Maine Coast; Down the Shore: Faces of Maine’s Coastal Fisheries; and Maine in Four Seasons. Her work has also appeared in Time, Sports Illustrated, and Newsweek, in the Smithsonian’s “Planet Ocean” exhibit, in DK Publishing’s America 24/7 book series, and in other books.
