The Apprenticeshop is a school for traditional wooden boatbuilding and seamanship located on the waterfront in Rockland, Maine. Since its founding in Bath, Maine in 1972, The Shop has remained dedicated to inspiring personal growth through craftsmanship, community and traditions and operates on a “hands-on” education philosophy. The Apprenticeshop offers programing for youth and adults ranging from evening and weekend workshops and summer sailing programs to full-time, 2-year traditional wooden boatbuilding programs. Students of all ages come to The Apprenticeshop from around the world to learn traditional boat building skills, sailing and maritime arts. Today, as a non-profit organization, The Shop is recognized as one of the finest and oldest traditional boat building schools in the country.
