A Political Action Committee formed by friends and allies of independent gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler has launched a new ad to support his campaign.
According to a note [1] by Susan Cover, "members of the PAC include Tony Buxton and Jon Doyle, attorneys and State House lobbyists; Jean Gulliver, former chairwoman of the Maine Board of Education; and Kay Rand, a public affairs consultant and former chief of staff for independent Gov. Angus King."
The ad is running in heavy rotation during the local news in both Portland and Bangor. It's not yet clear how much the PAC, called the Campaign for Maine, has spent on this independent expenditure, as they have yet to file a report with the state.
Here's the ad, as broadcast on WVII:
The production values of the ad are pretty low, but it gets its message accross.
It's interesting to see this kind of expenditure on behalf of Cutler, who, due to his personal wealth and willingness to bankroll his campaign, would seem to be the candidate who would least need this kind of help. Cutler has hovered around 10 or 11 percent of the vote in a series of recent polls.
