He holds an MFA in painting from the University of New Hampshire and has been the recipient of several fellowships, most recently a teaching fellowship in Ascoli Piceno, Italy.

The Cobscook Community Learning Center presents Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Ford. There will be a reception with the author at 6 p.m. followed by a lecture and reading at 7:30. Richard Ford is the first author to receive both the Pulitzer Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award for his novel Independence Day. Ford lives in Boothbay, with his wife, Kristina Ford.

Stonington, ME. The gWatson Gallery is presenting mezzo soprano Kimberly Oppelt in a recital on Friday, June 15 at 7:30 PM. Originally from Rochester, NY, Oppelt graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in vocal performance. She recently performed with Portsmouth Pro Musica, singing the mezzo solos in John Rutter’s, Feel the Spirit. She has performed with Opera Saratoga, Metro West Opera, Granite State Opera, Opera New Hampshire, Lakes Region Opera, and New Hampshire Youth Opera.
