The offices of Down East are famously (or infamously) un-air-conditioned which makes weather like we've been having a true test of character. Most Mainers are ill-adapted to the heat. Certainly I am.

Air-conditioning as a way of life is a genuinely alien concept in the Pine Tree State, or at least it used to be. When I think back to my childhood and visiting my friends houses, I can recall only one who had AC. My parents did not own air-conditioned cars until the past decade or so,
