Halifax-based Gypsophilia is a group of seven young performers whose music straddles the jazz and indie worlds. The band started in 2004 as a Django Reinhardt tribute, but soon found itself mixing gypsy jazz with klezmer, funk, classical music, indie rock, and bebop, composing original music, and selling out shows all over Canada. This performance marks the beginning of their 2013 U.S. tour.

The 2013 Eastport Kitchen Gardens tour is set for Sunday, August 18, 1-4 p.m. The raindate is the following Sunday. A variety of Eastport kitchen gardens will be open to the public. Maps and tickets will be available at the Peavey Memorial Library located in the downtown at the intersection of Water and Key streets. Tickets are $3 each with proceeds to benefit the library. The Castine Arts Association is proud to sponsor its first plein air festival on Saturday, July 27th, 2013 in the Town of Castine, Maine. Thirty five artists will be accepted to participate in this one day art event. The day will begin at the Castine Town Common on Court Street at 7:30 AM where the event’s artists will register and then proceed to various locations within the Town of Castine to create one or more original paintings on site. At 6 PM, the arts association will host a public reception, artist award ceremony and art sale at the Maine Maritime Academy's Harborview Room.
