Maine Airports

The beauty of Maine airports is that they’re still easy to navigate. Even in Portland you can go from baggage claim to your car in a matter of seconds (ninety, to be precise – we’ve timed it!). Here are all of the state’s commercial airports, including contact information and the airlines servicing each airstrip. Take that, Logan!

Yes, You Can Get Here From There

A surprising number of people think Maine is at the end of the earth. Granted, your day-to-day stresses can seem a million miles away once you cross over the big green bridge over the Piscataqua River in Kittery, but in terms of actual miles Maine’s pressed tight up against the largest population concentration in the United States. Whether you decide to fly into Portland, drive up to Katahdin in a rental car, or hop the Downeaster from Boston to Maine, you’ll need to nail down a few details to make your visit as carefree as it can be. Here’s a bunch of handy information to help you click into your Maine vacation before you even arrive in the Pine Tree State.

Saint Ambrose said it best in 387 A.D.: When in Rome, do as the Romans do. While Mainers might not be able to experience a walk through the Colosseum or gaze at the Sistine Chapel, thanks to a new restaurant in Bangor we can do at least one thing like the Romans: eat.

Take Time for Cross-Country Ski Touring

Mainers have long enjoyed virtually unlimited cross-country skiing both in backyards and in the backcountry. In recent years, though, many skiers have been smitten with the smooth groomed trail systems at ski centers, golf courses, and even on farms across the state. Here are a few, arranged alphabetically by town, to consider.

Head to Maine's Home of the Steep and Deep

From big resorts like Sunday River and Sugarloaf to small-town favorites like Lost Valley and the Camden Snow Bowl, Maine's alpine ski areas offer plenty of terrain to keep you challenged even during the longest of Maine winters. Why not make it your personal mission to try them all this season?

Take a Hike!
